Lindsey Lavender is a fantastic painter. Her work ‘examines the urban environment seeking simple, overlooked observations with a fascination for the mundane but necessary’.

This work, especially the overpass foot bridges, speaks to me in volumes as I grew up in the Scottish new town of Glenrothes. Her work strikes a chord with my memories of concrete covered housing schemes and town parks linking shopping malls with new build office blocks.

Lindsey and I spent a few hours on a cold March Saturday morning in Portobello, near Edinburgh shooting a series of portraits in front of the scene/subject of one of her paintings.

I’m loving the results, honest, stark and personal.

Thanks for the opportunity to capture you Lindsey.
